Here is my story: I attended the Christie's auction of items from the Estate of Nancy and Ronald Reagan after Nancy passed away. They had three of the President Reagan "doodles" of characters - some of himself --available for sale. They were each signed on White House stationery and had 8, 9, and 10 characters. The suggested prices, as I recall was $2,500-3,500 for each. I bid thinking it might go up to $5,000 for each. Final winning bids were $60,000, $55,000, and $80,000. I was s0000 disappointed.

I purchased a signed doodle that was a self-portrait. The item came with authentication and it was beautifully matted and framed according to archival standards. I also purchased a hand-written draft of a letter Ronald Reagan wrote to a citizen who had written to him (to be sent after his secretary typed it up). The draft letter was elegantly matted and framed with a picture of Reagan in a thoughtful pose.
